About
The Open Source Sovereign Foundation Models (OSFM) workshop series is an ongoing initiative focused on strengthening sovereign and competitive open source AI in Europe. The workshops bring together researchers, engineers, policymakers, startups, and industry representatives to exchange ideas on the technical, industrial, and governance challenges shaping the future of European AI.
The first international OSFM workshop took place in Berlin in November 2025 and focused on topics including data curation, scalable infrastructure, training optimization, alignment, and trustworthy AI systems.
The second edition followed on 21–22 May 2026 in Hürth near Cologne, continuing the series as a growing collaborative format for open exchange, collaboration, and new partnerships across the European AI ecosystem.
